Email – check it and forget it.

I love checking my email.  Check it in the morning, check it around 1oam, check it at noon, a few more times in the afternoon.  Of course it needs to be checked at night.

Just to tempt me a little more my phone “pushes” the new messages to me.

Hold on – let me stop everything I am doing and see who send me an email – it might be important.

Maybe a client needs their pictures taken immediately, or an offer that expires in the next 5 minutes.

WAIT a minute.

  • Most emails are not as urgent as people make them out to be – if its urgent people will get a hold of you  😉
  • Most emails are NOT important – there I said it.  There is plenty spam out there – all needing an urgent response from you or giving you an offer that will not last.
  • If you read your emails in the morning most likely you will put your best made plans aside and deal with someone else’s drama first.
  • Emails are similar in nature – you can deal with them most effectively at the same time.  Don’t shift gears all the time.

So what am I going to do about it all – check it less often and more purposefully 🙂

Let me know what you think.
