A pictures is worth a thousand words  ~  Napoleon Bonaparte

We all have heard this quote before and mostly tend to agree with a picture having much more information for us to process and making things oftentimes clearer.  Showing a picture of our newborn son would be more interesting and informative than describing him in great detail:

“He has the most angelic eyes, cutest face and those tiny feet…” you get the idea.

However, looking at pictures has its drawbacks too.  Ask two people to describe what they are looking at and you get all kinds of answers.

Enter – we have had this app for a while on the Mac but now they brought it to the iphone which is really cool.  It allows you to annotate a picture by adding arrows, description and pixilate (really cool) a image.  See someone wearing a goofy t shirt in the mall and want to share it with your friends?  Now you can pixilate their face and keep you out of trouble for posting it 🙂

Want to post an email you received and not share any personal info on it – pixilate it out 🙂

Here is a great link to how the iphone app works in detail.

Here is a quick example of what to do:

More to come –

Sorry for the lack of attention to the blog as of late. Now that our lastest addition has arrived to the Vohwinkel Family, things are going back to more normal and the blog is back on the front burner 🙂

Another thing to do with your time: Pinterest

My wife made me do it. Yes – in this case it it the truth. While when it comes to any type of social media I am normally interested early, this time I was not.

Pinning pictures on your boards? Another thing to like? All sounded pretty stupid to me.

But I could not get over the fact that my wife (the one who made me do it) was spending so much time with pinterest – giggling, oohing, laughing and being completely taken in.

So what is pinterest you might ask?  Well it is a lot of things:

  • It is one picture after the other – no more whiny facebook “woe is me” updates to cull through before seeing a picture (ever wondered why facebook is getting more and more visual “big pictures”??)
  • It is things that might interest you and things that will surprise you.
  • It is a summary of things that others find interesting.
  • It is the ability to follow people without being shut out behind endless privacy settings.
  • It is sharing your art / pictures / ideas with others.
  • It is the internet for people who can’t – or don’t want to read much.

To sum it up it is pretty cool and very addictive (you have been warned).

Here is a screenshot of pinterest – as promised mostly pictures, very little reading required 🙂

Give it a try and you can follow me now on  pinterest here.

The Bead Bistro

The Bead Bistro is a brand new store here in Killeen.  It is run by a former colleague of mine, which got me interested in visiting in the first place.

Just love the place.

It is bright and friendly inside and you just have a great selection of beads to choose from.  What would you do with beads?  Well they make wonderful accessories for pictures of all types.

Here is the store on the inside:

There selection is just incredible – go be creative and pay them a visit:
